Who is eligible for NHS Tayside Podiatry?
 People with a foot related problem who meet any of the following criteria:
 * Rheumatology/Connective Tissue Disease
 * Severe Peripheral Arterial Disease
 * Diabetes with a Moderate/High Risk foot score
 * History of foot ulceration
 * Chronic Degenerative Neurological Disease – e.g. Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons, Motor Neurone Disease
 * Children (pre-school to secondary)
 * Anyone who requires Nail Surgery e.g. removal of a toenail.
 * Musculo-skeletal problems e.g. Plantar Digital Neuroma/Plantar Fasciitis.

Please note, Podiatry does not provide a personal nail cutting service.

•For muscle, back or joint problems, ligaments, back, neck, nerve pain or walking issues related to MSK problems
•Sports injuries
•20-minute appointments or longer if necessary

Exclusions include:

  • Under 16 year olds
  • Acutely unwell / Mental health crisis
  • Headaches
  • Rheumatology, neurological, respiratory, ante/post-natal, pelvic health, podiatry or weight management issues
  • Walking aid / splint requests
  • Medication reviews
  • Sick notes unrelated to MSK

Optometrists/Opticians have undergone extensive training/degrees to assist patients. Patients can have an NHS-funded eye examination in Scotland and should contact their usual Optometrist who will have access to their medical records.

Eye health checks are available for the following conditions:

Maternity Triage at Ninewells Hospital is a 24 hour, 7 day a week service for pregnant women over 14 weeks with urgent pregnancy concerns. Please do not hesitate to call if you need advice.

*Phlebotomy (non-urgent only)
*Chronic Disease Monitoring (BP, Height, Weight, Processing Urine Specimen, Diabetic Foot Check – as part of a diabetic review)

Wound Care Clinic:
•Suture/Clips/Staple removal
•Post op wound check/dress
•Dress/bandage wound/superficial injury
•Dressing small/minor burn
•Injections – IM/Sub-cut
•Out of hours wound care – Sat/Sun/Public holidays

Ear Care Clinic:

•Ear irrigation (syringing with water only)
Patients must have been through Pharmacy first for drops and applied for 7-10 days prior to any appointment
